The Original Miss America...

And This One Will Rule Forever!

In December of 1921, the U.S. Mint released the highly anticipated "Peace Dollar". It was to celebrate the concept of peace and was originally scheduled to be a U.S. Half Dollar. Instead, Peace Dollars were issued by order of Treasury Secretary Andrew Mellon since Congress adjourned that autumn without voting on the bill. The series continued in January of 1922 and throughout the next 15 years. 1935 was the end of the series and of all classic silver dollars for the next fifty years. Today, these coins remain the largest most beautiful portrait of Miss America ever to be presented by this country. It follows in line with the 1886 Statue of Liberty and together they are both historic and undervalued as pieces of classic Americana. From a coin standpoint, we are aggressively advising our clients to own them, but only in top grade.

Choice BU coins are not only gorgeous to look at, but quite a bargain. With silver at over $27, the coins have plenty of value and a price within a few dollars of raw bullion. So how can you go wrong? Remember, the top grades are where the future appreciation will come from, so we are aggressively recommending them. These coins are nice white Gem BU dollars dated from 1922, 1923, 1924, and 1925. The good part is that they are high-quality coins that have never been searched for coins to be slabbed out for mint state collector grades.

Everybody is chasing the circulated and BU Morgan, while the real hidden value is in high-quality BU Peace dollars, the ones we are offering to our clients. Look at the numbers and go test us out. The savings are huge, and the available supplies are minuscule. Our inventory is among the best in the country, and while we can sell them for current rates close to wholesale, our road buyers and suppliers tell us that they are drying up fast. Just wait until you receive your coins and examine the beauty and flashy eye appeal. Truly, Miss America couldn't be any prettier than these gorgeous Peace dollars.

Morgan Silver Dollar

It is a piece of history that can be held in your hand, a tangible time machine that has crossed the country by railroad, boat and horseback. It witnessed a young New Orleans port nestled on the Mississippi River, crowded with steamboats and schooners plying their wares. It was a player in San Francisco's gold and silver boom, when the fever infected the growing coastal city. It rested in Denver, nestled in the beauty of its snow covered peaks and valleys of white powder.
It rode the rails from Carson City, where cowboy legends of the Wild West lived, fought and died. It has been part and parcel of the enduring American spirit of liberty birthed in Philadelphia. This magnificent piece of history is the Morgan Silver Dollar, which was America's "coin of the realm" during the late 1800's. It was minted in these cities, each part of a young country struggling to find its place in the world.

Designed by George T. Morgan, the first Morgan Dollar was struck on March 11,1878, and minting continued through 1904. The United States Treasure made the silver coins out of bullion taken from America's richest silver strike, the historic Nevada Comstock Lode. In 1918, an estimated 270 million Morgan Dollars were melted down for Great Britain's war efforts. The Morgan Silver Dollars have journeyed through the industrial revolution, the depression, prohibition, two world wars, the space race, the Vietnam War, and the Gulf War. So, if you're lucky enough to get your hands on one, you have a true piece of Americana. Each coin is more than a glimpse at history... what you bold in your hand IS history.

Silver, The Next Big Bubble

If there is a single investment asset that is not yet in the bubble, but holds the potential to turn into one of the biggest bubbles in financial history, it is silver. More than other precious metals or commodities, stocks, bonds, or real estate, silver has unique characteristics that make it the prime candidate to be the next big bubble. Silver is still dirt cheap by any relative or absolute measurement, especially after its recent price correction. Yes, it is up four-fold from the lows of several years ago, giving early buyers an immense return, but it is still cheap compared to its own fundamentals and all other commodities, including gold. I know that some analysts I respect maintain that gold will go into a bubble of its own, greatly enriching investors. If that turns out to be true, it will enhance, not diminish, the likelihood of a bubble in silver, because silver is less than 2% of the price of gold and more rare in investment form. If gold doesn't get to a bubble, silver may still do so, due to special circumstances unique to silver. It's not certain that vast amounts of leverage would fuel a silver bubble, but it could, particularly when it involves large institutional investors, such as hedge funds.

But, importantly, no leverage is needed to fuel a silver bubble. That's because silver is so cheap and there is so little remaining in existence, that borrowed money is not needed to drive prices sharply higher. With perhaps a billion ounces of investment silver in existence, there is less than $20 billion worth of silver in the entire world. That is truly a small amount of money for the entire worth of an important world asset. There are individuals, and certainly certain investment pools, with more than that. Please keep in mind that the more silver that is held on a fully paid for basis lessens the chance of a leveraged sell-off like the kind we have seen regularly on COMEX. As more investors buy for cash, shaking them out will be harder. Even the thought that big leveraged money might flow into silver should boggle the mind.
